New South Wales (NSW) has officially closed invitations for the Skilled Nominated (subclass 190) visa for the 2024–25 program year, as they have reached their full nomination allocation. No further invitations will be issued for this visa subclass until the next program year begins in the new financial year, pending federal government allocation.

For the Skilled Work Regional (subclass 491) visa, NSW is still issuing final invitations under Pathway 2 before the end of this week. Pathway 2 is designed for applicants with skills in demand in regional NSW, even if they are not currently living in NSW.

If your current visa expires within the next 4–6 months, it is recommended to explore backup options such as employer sponsorship.
