Migration Queensland has opened skilled migration program 2024-25 for Subclass 190 and 491 visas

Queensland has opened 2024-25 skilled migration program for

Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190); and

Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491)

There are different nomination pathways for Queensland. You may be eligible for the nomination in any of these if you meet the requirements given below.

Skilled workers living in Queensland

Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) requirements for Queensland

You must

- have scored at least 65 points on the points test

- have been living and working in Queensland for at least the last 6 months

- have at least 30 hours per week work experience closely related to your nominated occupation and have obtained after completing your qualification

- have an occupation on the eligible skilled occupation

- have proficient English (7 in each of the 4 IELTS modules or equivalent score TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic, OET or Cambridge C1 Advanced Test)

- have employment ongoing for further 12 months

- must commit to live and work in Queensland for 2 years from the date of visa grant

Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491)

You must

- have scored at least 65 points on the points test

- have been living and working in Queensland for at least the last 3 months

- have at least 30 hours per week work experience closely related to your nominated occupation and have obtained after completing your qualification

- have an occupation on the eligible skilled occupation

- have proficient English (7 in each of the 4 IELTS modules or equivalent score TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic, OET or Cambridge C1 Advanced Test)

- have employment ongoing for further 6 months

- must commit to live and work in Queensland for 3 years from the date of visa grant

Queensland Graduates

Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) requirements for Queensland

You must

- have scored at least 65 points on the points test

- have a bachelor's degree or higher qualification in a priority field from a Queensland university completed 100 per cent in Queensland after 1 July 2022

- have been living and working in Queensland for at least the last 6 months

- have at least 30 hours per week work experience in any Skill Level 1 occupation obtained after completing your qualification

- be still employed a role that meets the above requirements at the time of submitting the Expression of Interest with the Department of Home Affairs

- have an occupation on the eligible skilled occupation list

- have proficient English (7 in each of the 4 IELTS modules or equivalent score TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic, OET or Cambridge C1 Advanced Test)

- have employment ongoing for further 12 months

- must commit to live and work in Queensland for 2 years from the date of visa grant

Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491)

You must

- have scored at least 65 points on the points test

- have a bachelor's degree or higher qualification in a priority field from a Queensland university completed 100 per cent in Queensland after 1 July 2022

- have been living and working in Queensland for at least the last 3 months

- have at least 30 hours per week work experience in any Skill Level 1 occupation obtained after completing your qualification

- have an occupation on the eligible skilled occupation

- have proficient English (7 in each of the 4 IELTS modules or equivalent score TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic, OET or Cambridge C1 Advanced Test)

- have employment ongoing for further 6 months

- must commit to live and work in Queensland for 3 years from the date of visa grant

Small business owners in regional Queensland

Under this stream, you can apply for Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491) and there are two pathways

Pathway 1- Business purchase

Under this pathway, you must purchase an existing business outside of South East Queensland for at least $100,000 and employ at least one Australian resident and operate the business for at least six months before submitting Expression of Interest with the Department of Home Affairs.

Pathway 2- Start up business

Under this pathway, you must have started a business and have continuously operated this business for at least two years and the business must be generating a profit and a turnover of $200,000 in the twelve months prior to submitting the Expression of Interest.

Queensland Nomination eligibility requirements

Common for Pathway 1 and 2

You must

- have scored at least 65 points on the points test

- have a valid skills assessment in the nominated occupation

- be under 45

- have at least competent English

- have an occupation on the eligible skilled occupation list

- be living in regional Queensland (check the www.migration.qld.gov.au website for a list of eligible postcodes)

- be operating a business in an eligible postcode

- be operating the business full-time

- hold 100% ownership interest

Additional requirements for Pathway 1 Business purchase

- settlement of business purchase must have occurred less than 18 months prior to submitting the Expression of Interest

- the business must have been operating for at lease two years in its current location immediately prior to purchase

- you must have purchased the business for at least $100,000

- you must have been operating the business for at least six months

- you must employ at least one Australian resident

Skilled workers outside Australia

Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) requirements for Queensland

You must

- have scored at least 65 points on the points test

- have an occupation on the offshore Queensland skilled occupation list

- have proficient English (7 in each of the 4 IELTS modules or equivalent score TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic, OET or Cambridge C1 Advanced Test)

- be employed in ongoing and full-time employment in the nominated occupation

- have 5 years employment experience in the nominated or closely related occupation

- must commit to live and work in Queensland for 2 years from the date of visa grant

Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491)

You must all the requirements given above for Subclass 190 except that for Subclass 491, you must commit to live and work in Queensland for 3 years whereas for Subclass 190, it is 2 years.
