Temporary Work (Skilled) visa (subclass 457), Temporary Skill Shortage visa (subclass 482) and Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (provisional) visa (subclass 494) holders will have more time to find a new employer, apply for a different visa or leave Australia if they stop working for the employer who sponsored them. They will have up to:
180 days at a time, or
a maximum of 365 days in total across the entire visa grant period.
During the above periods, the visa holder can work for other employers and occupations different to the one nominated in their recent sponsorship nomination so that they could support themselves while they find a new sponsor.
Sponsors are still required to notify the Department of any changes within 28 days including cessation of sponsorship or if the visa holder resigns.
